My Worry Page

A Garden of inspirational quotes and poetry
Concerned or Worried?

Worry...

In my life, I have found there are two things
about which I should never worry.
First, I shouldn't worry about the things I can't change.
If I can't change them,
worry is certainly most foolish and useless.
Second, I shouldn't worry about the things I can change.
If I can change them,
then taking action will accomplish far more
than wasting my energies in worry.
Besides, it is my belief that,9 times out of 10,
worrying about something does more danger than the thing itself.
Give worry its rightful place - out of your life.

"I have had many troubles, but the worst of them never came. "
James A. Garfield

If we fill our hours with regrets of yesterday
and with worries of tomorrow.
We have no TODAY in which to be thankful.

It is not the cares of today,
but the cares of tomorrow that weigh a man down.
For the needs of today we have corresponding strength given.
For the morrow we are told to trust. It is not ours yet.

G. Macdonald

"It is said that our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows,
but only empties today of its strength."

Charles H. Spurgeon
(1834-1892)
English Baptist preacher

It is not work that kills men;
it is worry.
Work is healthy;
you can hardly put more upon a man than he can bear.
Worry is the rust upon the blade.
It is not the revolution which destroys the machinery but the friction.

Henry Ward Beecher

Never Borrow Sorrow From Tomorrow

Deal only with the present,
Never step into tomorrow,
For God asks us just to trust Him
And to never borrow sorrow-
For the future is not ours to know
And it may never be,
So let us live and give our best
And give it lavishly-
For to meet tomorrow's troubles
Before they are even ours
Is to anticipate the Saviour
And to doubt His all-wise powers-
So let us be content to solve
Our problems one by one,
Asking nothing of tomorrow
Except "Thy Will be done."

Helen Steiner Rice

Some people bear three kinds of trouble,
the ones they've had
the ones they have,
and the ones they expect to have.

Everett Hale

"Stop worrying about the potholes in the road and celebrate the journey!"

Barbara Hoffman

"When I look back on all the worries
I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed,
that he had a lot of trouble in his life,
most of which never happened".

Winston Churchill

"Worry, the interest paid by those who borrow trouble." George Washington

Worrying is like a rocking chair,
it gives you something to do,
but it doesn't get you anywhere.

"You probably wouldn't worry about what people think of you
if you could know how seldom they do."

Olin Miller
