GARCES EDGES JAYVEE'S, 20-7

TEHACHAPI NEWS -- In a hard fought game by both teams, Garces overtook Tehachapi in the SEYL championship last Friday night by a 20-7 score at Coy Burnett Field.

Michael Piekarski threw for 106 yards on four completions and logged in a touchdown, hitting Thomas Blewett on a five yard pass.

Jacob Gray led the team in rushing with 42 yards, followed by Anthony Curiel with 29 yards.

Through the air, Curiel had an 18 yard reception and Jake Walters a season high 81 yard completion.

Michael Bailey led the team in tackles with 12 on defense, followed by Jerry Castaneda with 11 takedowns.

Tehachapi (7-2-1; 4-1 SEYL) ended up with 66 tackles overall in the game.

Piekarski and Blewett also had nine and eight tackles apiece, while Gray, Larry Wiggins and Gabe Dodge each had four tackles each.
