that was a lot of life for this girl to live.
she was lucky she hadn't gone crazy like the rest of them had
when the day came to pack up and go their separate ways.
mom went to some missionary place out west.
dad married someone half his age.
all seven kids hit the streets with college savings.
justin moved to amsterdam and the last she knew, had nearly overdosed on heroin.
as for the other five? nobody knew.

charlie went to new york and did some modeling.
didn't last too long when the photographer unzipped his pants.
she bartended someplace downtown
and then joined some unknown band and sang her way across manhattan.
but she always wondered what happened to the other five.
and although it was rumored that they were dead ..
still, nobody knows.

it didn't really matter, anyway.
she'd already entered her own addictions.
she'd drank too much and misused her ability to defend herself.
waking up next to some new and strange (but awfully handsome) guy had become a routine.
this was way too much life for her to live.
she wasn't sure she'd even grown up yet.
her body begged to differ.
secret tattoos and secret piercings.
tiny little waist with a big giant sex appeal.

she smoked too many cigarettes and drank too much jack daniels.
her mother died of lung cancer, her father of liver failure.
once, she heard from justin and he said he'd gotten married.
he had two kids and lived in london.
charlie lied and said she had a boyfriend.
and they'd be married in the summer.
he was a lawyer and they had a beautiful apartment.
too bad he didn't exist.
but justin didn't have to know that.

'charlie.. i think there's something we should know about.'

'the job ..'

'the boyfriend ..'

'the lying ..'

'i'm gonna be something. i swear ..'
