WHY Police Chief Jimmy Martin has put his Secretary on the list to get a raise?
Ms. Hall has been with the City LESS THAN A YEAR...HIRED ON August 9, 2006, according to information given out by Personnel Director Valeria Jones. She must really be performing exceptionally well for Martin!! And how does Martin justify a raise for his Secretary WHILE LEAVING 8 TO 10 POSITIONS IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT UNFILLED while crimes are being committed all over town! It is past time for Martin to be removed as Chief...and this incident with his Secretary getting a raise is just the latest reason.
WHY Mayor Perkins gives his flunky, City Attorney Jimmy Nunn, an $8,000 a year raise so that Nunn now makes nearly $70,000 a year in salary alone, plus another $15,000 in benefits while Perkins vetos a raise for the Council Secretary, who has to put up with all of the abuse heaped on her by Crenshaw, Venter, and Leashore?
What makes the raise for Nunn so abominable is that it came just 2 weeks after he, personally, LOST a case which is costing the City $310,000. Gosh, if Nunn had won the case, we guess Perkins and his cronies on the Council would have given Nunn the City checkbook to use at his leisure!! Can anyone say "hypocrit" and "double standard" when describing how Perkins treats those he likes and those he dislikes?
WHY Councilman Sam Randolph continues to be a puppet of Bennie Ruth Crenshaw when Crenshaw keeps "dogging" him about supporting the raise for the Council Secretary?
We understand one reason Randolph has supported the raise for the Secretary is that his wife has urged him to do so and that she is upset that Sam is seen as a puppet fro Crenshaw and wants Sam to be a man and make his own decisions! We do not know Mrs. Randolph, but we commend her for her insight into what is happening and for urging Sam to do the right thing!!
WHY Rosie Reed, Perkins' Secretary, is also on the list provided by personnel Director Valeria Jones to get a raise?
Ms. Reed was hired on October 30, 2006, according to information Jones provided to Mrs. Venter. Meanwhile, you have secretaries like Katie Brown and Judi Porter who have been faithful employees to the City for many years and who deserve a raise - if anyone does - yet noone is speaking up for them.
WHY certain people did not get a raise when the Perkins pay plan went into effect last year?
We understand the City's pay plan gave more than 325 City employees some kind of raise when it went into effect, but a few people were placed in the highest step in their classification; Thus, they received no raise. What do Judi Porter, Dianne Collins, Randy Harris, Warren Hinson, and Barbara Casey all have in common? (1) By being placed in the highest step in their position by Perkins and Jones, they did not get a raise when the City Pay Plan went into effect (2) They are all white women and (3) They all worked for the City during the Smitherman Administration. YOU decide if this was a coincidence that out of MORE THAN 350 EMPLOYEES, THEY DID NOT RECEIVE A RAISE!!! Can you say "racism" and "discrimination"???
WHY the Crenchaw Block wants Dr. Williamson to apologize to Councilwoman Venter for saying Venter was ignorant about his membership in the League of the South?
WE ARE NOT SAYING MS. VENTER IS IGNORANT, BUT WE WILL SOON HAVE SOME VIDEO ON THIS SITE WITH HER SPEAKING AT THE COUNCIL MEETING AND YOU CAN MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND! We are also posting ANOTHER one of Leashore's comments which ranks right up there with his "AFIXIATED TO THE GROUND" comment. As for Crenshaw, you will soon see her making a racist statement and telling a BIG FAT LIE by saying that the League of the South sponsored the Battle of Selma. And after seeing Venter, Leashore, and Crenshaw on video, YOU WON'T HAVE TO WONDER WHY CITY GOVERNMENT IS IN THE SHAPE IT IS IN AND PEOPLE ARE LEAVING THE CITY AS QUICKLY AS THEY CAN!!
WHY this Berber named Barbara Stapp-Houias has come to Selma and suddenly taken over the Selma City Board and is setting herself and the System up for a mega lawsuit from Central Office staff that she is defaming?
Maybe someone should have checked into her background before electing her to the School Board. The City Council needs to call for the resignation of the six School Board Members who brought about the removal of Dr. James Carter, AND appointed Verdell LETT Dawson to be interim Superintendent. The Board must have a very short memort of what happened with DAWSON and WHY SHE WAS REMOVED AS PRINCIPAL OF A SCHOOL A FEW YEARS AGO, AND ACTUALLY HAD HER CAREER SAVED BY DR.CARTER. He moved her to the Central Office and now she is repaying him by a lot of good old Selma style back-stabbing!!!
