PRESIDENT OBAMA ATTENDS SERVICE IN HONOR OF KLU KLUX KLAN MEMBER

President Barack Obama recently attended and spoke at a service in honor of a Klu Klux Klansman. Of this former member of the Klan, Obama said that the man was a "gentlemen, a Christian" and used many other phrases to praise the former Klan Member. This was high praise from the President of the United States for a man who in the early 1940's gathered more than 100 of his friends in West Virginia and formed his own Klavern of the Klan.
All hell broke loose in Selma once Rose and the Freedom Foundation/House of God cult found out that Dr. Williamson had attended a birthday party which honored General Nathan Bedford Forrest, who is reputed to have been a member of the Klan from 1866-1869, when he dissolved the group. As Dr. Williamson has pointed out, he has attended this annual party for many years and the party honors the military exploits of General Forrest.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE between President Obama attending and speaking at a service for former Klan member, Robert Byrd, and Dr. Williamson attending a celebration in honor of General Forrest? Robert Byrd eventually got out of the Klan after a few years. Forrest dissolved the Klan after a few years. SOMEONE HAS GOT TO TELL US THE DIFFERENCE before we join the shrill and hypocritical voices berating Dr. Williamson and THE ABJECT SILENCE OF THE SAME PEOPLE TOWARD President Obama's attendance and speaking at the Byrd service.
We maintain, as Dr. Williamson recently pointed out in his letter to the Editor, that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". Every person has imperfections in his or her life, WHICH WILL BE A GOOD THING FOR SAM RANDOLPH TO REMEMBER AS HE IS USED TO BRING A RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL CONDEMNING DR. WILLIAMSON. We are certain that Councilman Randolph has some sins in his life that he would not want to be made public. AND WHAT RIGHT does the Selma City Council have to condemn anybody for what an individual council member does on his/her own time as private citizen?
Rather than being concerned about President Obama speaking at a former Klanman's service, people should be concerned that the schools here did not make AYP. Rather than being concerned that Cecil Williamson attended some birthday celebration in the country, people need to be concerned about the 20% unemployment, crime, violence, and trash in the city.
Why did the Canadian steel company with 140 jobs recently announce it was locating in Thomasville, Alabama, and why did Kohl's with 140 jobs and Whitney Bank with 50 jobs just announce they were locating in Prattville? Why? Because Thomasville and Prattville do not have a Rose Sanders, a Mark Duke, a hate radio station, or a Colorado cult clan!!!
