UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES…
11-3-11

OF Rose Sanders and her motley mob of malcontents protesting at the courthouse because no black was on the Board of Registrars WAS that a black, Lola Sewell, almost did NOT get appointed. We have talked to those in Dallas County responsible for these appointments and have learned that Registrar Pat Phillips had indicated months ago that because of health reasons she did not intend to serve another term on the Board. The appointing committee began to look for a black to recommend. When the date, October 1, came for the new term to begin and no black Republican had been found to appoint, Mrs. Phillips agreed to stay on until someone was found. BUT THEN ROSE reared her ugly head again and almost made the committee not recommend a black because it might appear Rose had something to do with it. However, despite Rose, we believe right prevailed, and now the Board does have a black registrar. We commend those in Dallas County WHO WERE REALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS Appointment.

OF the Bishop of Funk, Franklin Fortier, Jr. and the cult members protesting in front of city hall against Dr. Williamson being City Council President WAS THAT WE LOST A BOJANGLES RESTAURANT FOR SELMA. One day a local government official and a Bojangles corporate executive were driving around Selma looking at potential sites for a restaurant when they passed City Hall where Fortier and the Cult were hollering at passer bys and generally acting like people in a third world country. Bojangles was looking to open a restaurant here and in Prattville. After their executive saw Fortier and the cult, Selma never heard another word from them, but the Prattville restaurant was built. THANKS FORTIER AND CULT for costing the city jobs!

OF another pregnancy for Fortier and Malika Sanders (their 4th) may be that the philander will be allowed to remain as a part of the Sanders family. THIS WILL MAKE 12 CHILDREN that Fortier has fathered and now he has children in Illinois, Louisiana, California and Alabama. That sounds like a LOT OF CHILD SUPPORT TO US!

OF Mark Duke buying the Teppers Building is that it may never be restored and remain an eye sore on Broad Street. On January 2, 2007, the Freedom Foundation purchased the Teppers Building from Mark Duke, Executive Director and founder of the organization, for $175,000.00 on an installment note basis paying interest only payments for 60 months at 5.4% interest for $801.00 a month. The installment note balloon payment is due January 1, 2012, with one final payment of unpaid principal and remaining interest. Duke had purchased the building from Rose Sanders for $175,000.00. Rose had paid only $80,000.00 for it. COULD THAT HAVE BEEN THE REASON DUKE CALLED HER ‘THE DEVIL”?

OF ELECTING Henry Hicks, School Board Chairman, is the chaos, confusion and disarray the school board is now in. We always knew that Hicks was the most unqualified person by education, temperament and lack of leadership skills, to ever be elected to any public office in Selma. Subsequent events have shown that our opinions are correct. Urged on by his mentor, JAMES PERKINS, JR., Hicks has made a shambles of the elected school board and the Selma school system. We hope the Board will remove Jefferson and that the voters WILL REMOVE HICKS NEXT YEAR!
