STILL "WE" RISE...

          With one little word "NOT" (as in NOT GUILTY), African-American appointed Municipal Judge, Willie Massey, freed Councilman Reid Cain from 10 months of harassment by Mayor Perkins, Police Officer Ghant, retired Detective Walker, and other conspirators who wanted to remove Cain from the City Council using any means or tactics! Fortunately, Judge Massey saw through the LIES told by Ghant and Walker and how they CONTRADICTED each other's testimony about what happened on August 13, 2007, after Perkins devotee Bennie Ruth Crenshaw disrupted the City Council meeting so badly that it had to be adjourned.

          We know that Councilman Cain and his family are happy to be freed from this harassment by city officials and police officers who will say anything and do anything to achieve their nefarious ends. We were a little late getting to Municipal Court yesterday, but have been told that Officer Ghant admitted under oath that SHE VIOLATED POLICE POLICY BY REFUSING TO GIVE HER NAME WHEN ASKED. We were there when retired Detective Walker, who claimed to be security for Mayor Perkins, told his story, which in our opinion was FULL OF LIES which contradicted what Ghant had said. We believe the Selma Times-Journal of June 19, 2008, has an accurate account of what happened as well as an excellent editorial about this entire matter that should never have gone to court.

          Remember that local magistrates refused to let Ghant sign a warrant against Councilman Cain. Hopefully they were wise enough to see that there was no case there and the whole thing was political. That is when Perkins got totally involved in persecuting the Councilman who often disagrees with him and had an outside Judge brought in to find probable cause that a case existed and have Cain arrested.

          Perhaps it would teach Perkins and his minions a lesson if the City were sued for false arrest, false imprisonment, and other crimes which, in our opinion, they have committed.

          JUDGE MASSEY'S ORDER FOLLOWS. He issued it without any comment - just NOT GUILTY!
