This is a sad, but true, letter that was submitted to us.
Today I received a door knocker from Mayor Perkins which caught me by surprise because the Mayor took credit for almost everything…from business renovations to restaurant openings. One would think that he has done a superb job as Mayor of our great city during his 8 year tenure. According to him, for 8 years he has supported a lot of things. However, by his own omission he has not initiated ANYTHING!!!!!
His “Proven, Progressive and Persistent” record omitted all the businesses closed under his “Support for Economic Development/Growth.” Maybe he forgot that Food World, Little Caesars Pizza, Domino’s Pizza, Me-Me’s Restaurant, Goody’s, the movie theatre, American Candy Factory, Vaughn Hospital on Dallas Avenue, Crystals, the Mexican restaurant on Highway 80, The Swamp, the Youth Development Center, Antique Mall, Amosa’s Restaurant, Selma’s Visitor Center on Broad Street, Coffee Printing……I can go on and on about the vast amount of businesses that has closed and the numerous amount of jobs lost. People are leaving this once great city in droves….
Don’t be fooled citizens of Selma…..we can not afford another four years of Perkins.
