WHY THE CITY SHOULD NOT OWN HOTELS
4-2-07

Each year since James Perkins Jr. became Mayor, the Saint James Hotel has deteriorated more and more until it has become an embarassment to Selma. The City of Selma owns the St. James and leases it to a management company owned primarily by Larry Striplin. The cost to Striplin is $100 a month for 99 years; however, he is responsible for all upkeep and running of the hotel. The City has been MORE than generous toward Striplin as Striplin has been toward Perkins in Political Contributions!!!

The reviews of the hotel, printed below, are a sad reflection on Perkins and the City of Selma and appear on an International Trip Advisory website. Looking at all of the reviews of the St. James on the website, every year Perkins has been in office, the reviews of Selma and the hotel have become worse and worse. Read them and see what outsiders are saying about our once lovely city.
