We have recently heard ex-Mayor Perkins on Hate Radio 105.3 LYING about how many jobs he brought to Selma. THE TRUTH IS HE SINGLE HANDEDLY DESTROYED Selma’s industrial base. MAJOR INDUSTRIES CLOSED WHILE HE WAS IN OFFICE……INDUSTRIAL JOBS DECLAINED WHILE HE WAS IN OFFICE….UNEMPLOYMENT ROSE WHILE HE WAS IN OFFICE.
We do not ask you to believe us when we make those statements. We do ask that YOU CHECK THE official government sources FOR OUR FACTS AND FIGURES.
(1) MAJOR INDUSTRIES CLOSED WHILE PERKINS WAS IN OFFICE WITH THE LOSS OF NEARLY 2,000 JOBS. Remember these major companies which closed or downsized while Perkins was in office:
Pilliod over 300 jobs lost
American Candy Company over 300 jobs lost
Cigar Plant over 200 jobs lost
Bush Hog downsized from more than 800 employees to around 200 while Perkins was in office and only a Herculean effort by Mayor Evans and the City Council kept it from closing, and there are others!
By constantly creating controversy with the county, Valley Creek, the City Council, and in the Police Department, James Perkins, Jr. create a climate in Selma which was decidedly anti-business! The next time he is on HATE RADIO 105. 3 LYING ABOUT HOW MANY JOBS HE BROUGHT TO SELMA, ASK HIM ABOUT THESE AND OTHER COMPANIES WHO LEFT SELMA WHILE HE WAS IN OFFICE.
(2) If you doubt us, consider the following statistics from THE ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS. When Perkins took office in 2000, there 17,926 people in the civilian work force here. When Perkins left office in 2008, there were 15,324 people in the civilian work here…A LOSS OF 2600 jobs while he was in office. The next time Perkins is on Hate Radio lying about jobs he created, ask him about these OFFICIAL NUMBERS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS.
Every year, Perkins was Mayor, the number of MANUFACTURING JOBS HERE DECLINED. In 2001, there were 4730 manufacturing jobs here. That number declined to 4117 in 2003 to 4001 in 2007 and was at 3929 when Perkins left office in 2008.
EVERY YEAR PERKINS WAS IN OFFICE, SELMA AND DALLAS COUNTY LOST JOBS! From the average annual employment of 16,643 in 2000, the average annual employment dropped to 16,106 in 2001, 15,279 in 2002, 14,856 in 2003 and continued to drop EVERY YEAR Perkins was in office through 2008, when there were 13,812 employed. Businesses are not going to stay in a city or come to a city where the city’s leadership-as under Perkins-keeps the town divided and in constant uproars and controversies.
(3) The BIGGEST LIE Perkins is telling, especially when he is on the ALL Lies program on Hate Radio with Lydia Chapmon and Ezekiel Pettway, is that when he took office unemployment was at 17% and he brought it down to 6-7 %. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE FABRICATION. When Perkins took office in 2000, the unemployment rate was 7.2%. Under Perkins, THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE ROSE YEAR AFTER YEAR. In 2001, it was 8.4%, in 2002 it was 10.4%, in 2003 it was 10.3%, in 2004, it was 9%, and when Perkins left office in 2008, the unemployment rate was 9.9%. These numbers are the yearly average unemployment rate COMPILED BY THE ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS.
The tragedy of this is that the years 2000 to 2008 (until October, 2008) were prosperous years throughout the country, BUT NOT IN SELMA. Plants closed, the work force decreased, manufacturing jobs were lost and unemployment rose all WHILE PERKINS WAS MAYOR.
We do not understand how PERKINS CAN GET ON HATE RADIO AND TELL BALD FACE LIES when he knows the statistics he misquotes can be found on official government sites such as the United States Department of Labor and the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations. If he continues with such lies, we will continue to expose him and his friends on the ALL Lies radio program! WHAT HE DID TO INDUSTRIES AND JOBS WHILE IN OFFICE IS JUST ONE MORE REASON HE SHOULD NEVER BE ELECTED MAYOR OF THIS CITY AGAIN!

Time is running out to file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission in Washington asking that the license of HATE RADIO 105.3 not be renewed. The deadline is July 23 for contacting the FCC and asking that the license not be renewed because the station does not operate in the best interests of the community. It spews hate every day, creates controversy where none exists, turns people against each other, divides the community and generally operates to the detriment of this entire area.
We have a copy of the suit which Rose Sanders has filed against Dr. Cecil Williamson alleging that he had her wrongly removed from the city council meeting, that he called her a domestic terrorist, and that he is the writer of Angelfire. We believe all three of these allegations are bogus in that only a Mayor can order the police to remove anyone from city hall, that someone else is saying they posted the notice in the cemetery calling Rose a domestic terrorists, and we know that Dr. Williamson does not put articles on this web site. We imagine that he is a little insulted that Rosie actually thinks he is not a stand up guy who has always spoken his mind. Once again, Sanders is causing controversy, division, and hate in the community. HOW CAN ONE WOMAN HAVE DONE SO MUCH DAMAGE TO ONE CITY FOR NEARLY 40 years?

And a final word about our newly elected CIRCUIT JUDGE COLLINS PETTAWAY, law partner of Rose Sanders, husband of Synethia Perkins Pettaway and brother in law of James Perkins, Jr. We see in the STJ that the home of Collins and Synethia on Tremont Street is being foreclosed. We are not happy to see anyone lose their home. Unfortunately, this is another evidence that Pettaway should NEVER BE A JUDGE. Last month in Houston County, a major judgment was entered against PETTAWAY AND Cynthia Rudolph BROWN. Pettaway and Brown had defrauded a Dothan doctor of more than $600,000 under the guise of putting on a concert. The doctor brought suit to recover his money and a confidential settlement was reached before the case went to trial.
This scheme was very similar to one that PETTAWAY AND BROWN ran on two local businessmen which cost the businessmen some $40,000. Pettaway and Brown were sued in the local court by both business men. Court documents reveal that Pettaway and Brown got money under the pretense of putting on a concert in White Hall. The money was loaned, according to court documents, when Pettaway, who claimed he was acting as Brown’s attorney, assured the business men that Brown had more than $400,000 in a trust account and they would get their money back if they loaned it to her. We are not attorneys, but this sure sounds like fraud to us!
Not only has Judge Pettaway being sued in Dallas and Houston Counties, but also in Autauga County for an alleged offense that we will not mention because we don’t delve into personal matters of individuals. He has also been sued in Dallas County for not paying a credit debt among other suits against him. ALL OF THIS IS PUBLIC RECORD FOR THOSE WHO TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK INTO IT. It is our opinion that this man is UNFIT TO BE A CIRCUIT JUDGE.

We understand that Ruthless Crenshaw has some strong opposition in Ward 7. She is the only council member in our memory TO VOTE AGAINST A MAJOR SEWER PROJECT IN HER OWN WARD TO STOP RAW SEWEAGE FROM RUNNING ON THE GROUND. She misses more meetings than any other council member and when she does attend, she usually leaves the meetings early. WARD 7 is essentially without representation with her on the Council.
