WE WANT TO KNOW IF MAYOR PERKINS IS COMPLETELY ABOVE THE LAW...AND IF THE CITY COUNCIL IS TOTALLY WITHOUT ANY BACKBONE TO EVEN ASK HIM QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS LAWLESS DEEDS.
The case in point has to do with him hiring a secretary for himself, as an aide. We wonder why he CAN'T KEEP A SECRETARY MORE THAN A FEW MONTHS.
The City Council approved a budget including the position of Mayor's Secretary to be paid $23,441.00 per year. Since September, 2006, Valeria Jones, the sneaky and deceptive Personnel Director, has advertised 3 times for a Mayor's Secretary.
On September 26, 2006 and January 2, 2007, the position was advertised with a salary range of $23,440 to $26,407. We wonder how the the Mayor was going to pay more than the Budget authorized ($23,441). On June 8, 2007, the position was again advertised. This time the salary range is from $23,441 to $30,316. We again wonder how the Mayor will pay more than the Budget authorized ($23,441).
Is the Mayor above the law? YES - until he is finally taken to court to stop these lawless actions!
We are sure Councilman Williamson and Cain tire of having to ask ALL of the questions and tire of being asked by we citizens to ask questions about some of the Mayor's misdeeds. However, we again call on them to ask the Mayor if he is bound by the adopted budget or can he just decide by himself how much he and Valeria Jones want to pay City workers.
