REAL TALK IS REAL LIES
7-24-09

On Thursday, July 16, we heard MARK DUKE tell the most preposterous LIE he has yet told. In a rant in which he was condemning most every Baptist from 1861 until he present as racist, Duke said (and this is almost a quote): THE FIRST CONFEDERATE SOLDIER KILLED IN THE CIVIL WAR WAS THE PASTOR OF THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH WHO WAS FIGHTING FOR THE STATE OF ALABAMA TO PRESERVE SLAVERY. In his visceral hatred of all things Southern and most things Baptist, Duke combined the two in this most outrageous LIE he has told since coming to our fair city.

How can anyone follow such a liar, distorter of historical facts, and vengeful person as Mark Duke? We call on his followers in Selma to MAKE HIM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS LIE. Doesn't the HOUSE OF GOD CHURCH have accountability where members are accountable to one another for their actions or is it a dictatorship where the Dukester's opinions and prevarications reign supreme? Make him show you his source, other than his vain imagination of how he wished things were, rather than facing the reality of the 1860's and the 1960's.

What caused this raving rant on Real Talk last Thursday? Obviously it is the billboards on Jeff Davis and on Broad Street saying, REAL TRUTH, JESUS IS GOD-a biblical fact which Duke has repeatedly denied. SEE THE PICTURE OF THE BILLBOARD WHICH FOLLOWS THIS ARTICLE. The other contributing factor to this rant-other than Duke becoming more delusional each day- is that the ALABAMA BAPTIST MAGAZINE is about to drop a bombshell on DUKE AND HIS CULT in its next issue, scheduled to hit the news stands in the next week or so.

The REAL TRUTH is that the Rev. Dr. Albert Spalding served as pastor of First Pastor Church from 1861 until 1866. Historians generally agree the war started with the firing on Ft. Sumter on April 12, 1861. Dr. Spalding NEVER served in the Confederate Army and was pastor at First Baptist throughout the war. Mark Duke is lying when he says the Pastor of First Baptist was the first Confederate soldier killed during the war. Perhaps Duke is thinking of the Rev. Mr. Noble Devotie who served as Pastor at First Baptist in 1859-1860 (before the war began) and was drowned in Mobile Bay in 1861. At the time of his death, the Rev. Mr. Devotie was NOT pastor at First Baptist. Mark Duke needs to get his facts straight and quit tellig lies which fit his agenda.
