Reasons

Councilman Leashore's favorite statement, "crime is down", was taught to him by Perkins who couldn't care less about the protection of the citizens. The proof is:
*The reduction to one half the number of officers needed in Selma to control crime and secure the community.
*Gutting the SPD of funding necessary for minimal operation.
*Using the term "crime is high everywhere" to take the responsibility off of himself.
*Appointing a police chief who was, and is, totally incapable of holding the position.
*Allowing the hiring of officers without extensive background investigations or review board interviews.
*Allowing the police chief to live in Bibb County, which is against city ordinance.
*Assigning new cars to his favorites and using the old delapidated ones on patrol.
*Allowing the Public Safety Building, a place where law enforcement begins, to literally become unfit for occupation by our officers.
*Costing the citizens over $20,000 to fight the placement of a tower he knew would enhance the ability for the SPD to communicate with our officers.
*Completely seperated himself from an alleged beating by police officers by funneling it through the ABI, District Attorney Jackson, and the Attorney General's Office for action. He allowed the hiring of these officers didn't he?
*Gave his word, which is like saying "I speak for the entire City", to not make the SPD Evaluation Report public until he is ready. Not one dollar came out of his pocket for this report. He shops and lives outside of Selma. He can do it, so why can't Martin..is the attitude they both use to justify their actions.
*He thinks cameras should replace police officers.
*Trying to pass a $12 million bond issue with no mention of increasing patrol or patrol security officers.
*Allowing a social re-election program, TRUSTBuild, to use police authority and usurp SPD money for their little bag tricks.
*Uses the statistics on murder to lead people to believe Leashore's statement.
*Authorized an inept, incompetent police chief to remain in the position after he resigned because he had caused the officers to divide and the citizens to lose all trust in local law enforcement.
*Uses police department funds for whatever rather than supply the officers with proper uniforms and equipment.
These are only a few of the reasons this website insists Perkins has his priorities put into his having complete authority and control over areas in the city he is not qualified to manage.
Note: Three armed robberies during the Council Meeting Monday while the Crenshaw Block plus 2 grease the way for a new theater (to help prevent crime, HAHA).
