We are urging all people of good will to contact Mayor George Evans and urge him to PARDON JOHNNIE LEASHORE. As Leashore grows older and prepares to meet his Maker, it seems to us that it would be a magnanimous gesture if Mayor Evans pardoned Leashore from his criminal convictions in Municipal Court. The Mayor’s office number is 874-201 for those wishing to call and ask him to issue a pardon to Leashore. WE ARE ALSO URGING EVERYONE TO CONTACT HIS OR HER CITY COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE AND ASK THEM TO SUPPORT THE ADOPTION OF THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL. RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Mayor of a municipality has the power to issue pardons to those convicted of crimes in the Municipal Court of the municipality; and,
WHEREAS, Johnnie Leashore was arrested for shooting into an occupied dwelling, namely, the residence of his girl friend; and,
WHEREAS, Johnnie Leashore was summarily dismissed from his position with the Community Action Agency for questionable and perhaps criminal activity; and,
WHEREAS, Johnnie Leashore was arrested and convicted for speeding through the streets of Selma in the middle of the night at speeds of over 100 m.p.h. in his pajamas; and,
WHEREAS, Johnnie Leashore did steal, according to the State Examiners of Public Accounts, more than $40,000 from the taxpayers of Selma by taking money to which he was not entitled while on the Selma Water Board; and,
WHEREAS, the Good Book says “if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst give him drink” and “be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good”; and,
WHEREAS, by his virulent and evil rantings on Hate Radio 105.3, Johnnie Leashore has unquestionably demonstrated that he is evil and an enemy of Mayor George Evans and the City of Selma;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Selma, Alabama, that we respectfully urge Mayor George Evans, in a spirit of magnanimity, to forthwith and publicly PARDON JOHNNIE LEASHORE of any and all criminal convictions in the Municipal Court of the City of Selma.

Mayor Evans is a good man who is far superior to Johnnie Leashore in goodness, kindness, compassion, and love for Selma and all its people. We believe that Mayor Evans is so forgiving of people like Leashore, who despitefully use and attack him, that he will pardon Leashore of all convictions. We believe that Mayor Evans will perform this gesture of good will in pardoning Leashore. Please call the Mayor and ask him to issue this pardon today, even for one such as Leashore who is clearly his enemy and the enemy of the City of Selma.
