POLICE CARS, STUPIDITY, AND OTHER RELATED FIASCOES OF THE PERKINS/MARTIN REGIME

For sheer stupidity and ignorance, few things that Mayor Perkins and Police Chief Martin have done equal the fiasco surrounding the purchase and use of the 11 recently purchased police cars. THIS BUMBLING STUPIDITY SHOULD RESULT IN THE IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION OF PERKINS AND MARTIN.
(1) The 11 cars were not purchased from the lowest bidder to begin with. Perkins insisted the cars be delivered by September 30th and paid for in the fiscal year ending September 30th. (For some inexplicable reason) Perkins acted like the $311,000.00 to purchase the cars had to be spent by September 30th. HE STILL HAS NOT EXPLAINED WHY!
(2) The highest bidder could deliver the cars by September 30th, but unknown to everyone (except Perkins and Martin), THE CARS DID NOT COME EQUIPPED TO BE PUT INTO POLICE SERVICE...
(3) The cars did not have the necessary police equipment on them when the City accepted them "AS IS" on September 30th! WHAT STUPIDITY ON THE MAYOR AND CHIEF'S PART!
(4) The 11 cars sat idle for more than 7 weeks (from September 30th to November 15th) while the necessary equipment was ordered and installed. WHAT A WASTE OF TAXPAYERS TIME AND WE STILL DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH EXTRA ALL OF THIS COST!!!
(5) To compound the Chief's stupidity and lack of leadership, he assigned 2 of the new cars to "TRUSTBUILD". This permits the Mayor's re-election campaign workers who are on the payroll at Trustbuild to ride around in NEW police cars while officers drive the old clunkers!
(6) The other cars were assigned to officers WHO TAKE THE CARS HOME. When the officers are off duty, the cars sit idle! Meanwhile, the city is patrolled in the old junk cars which the 11 cars were suppose to replace! HOWEVER, AS ONE HIGH RANKING OFFICER TOLD US, IT DOESN'T MUCH MATTER BECAUSE THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH OFFICERS TO FILL THE CARS AND PATROL THE CITY ANYWAY...Selma is practically unprotected MOST OF THE TIME!!!
There are few things which illustrate so clearly WHY JIMMY MARTIN SHOULD NOT BE POLICE CHIEF AND JAMES PERKINS JR SHOULD NOT BE MAYOR AS THEIR STUPIDITY IN THIS WHOLE POLICE CAR MESS THEY CREATED....and this website thinks it is past time for some members of the City Council to get some backcone and call for the removal of the Chief and the Mayor!!!
