A source involved in city government has informed this website that an individual from Selma has forwarded a copy of the cover letter for the Auditor's Management Report to the proper authorities concerning the threat of not releasing public information to the Council Members or any other citizens if the report became public knowledge. This website feels the city attorney, Jimmy Nunn, should advise the mayor concerning the Sunshine Law and the ramifications of his actions.
This website has also been informed that the reportable conditions in this report are being reviewed by the proper authorities to find if any criminal neglegence or purposely mis-used or mis-accounting of funds have been committed by the city financial minds. The source stated that when parts of this report were read to authorities, they were very interested and requested a copy. A copy was sent to four different locations of interest.
The source also stated that the mayor has a fidelity bond, if that is the case, approximately $52,000 spent without proper signiture and authorization should be coming back to the city from this bond.
This website has no idea how deep this "financial mumbo jumbo" goes but the authorities in reciept of this report have the desire and capabilities to get the proper answers.
