MORE ON THE BOND
10-15-07

We continue to find big holes in the explaination, by Perkins, on the Bond Issue.

On the back page of the bond hand out (already posted on this site) you will see a total figure of $12,670,444.00. Do the math. If the Bond Issue is for $4,000,000.00, and the Bond debt already is $1,700,000.00, this will mean a total bond debt of $5,700,000.00. So if we have $5,700,000.00, and his "proposal" is $12,670,444.00, then we are still $6,970,444.00 short of what he proposes. And that is ONLY IF WE STILL HAD THE $1,700,000.00 FROM THE FIRST BOND ISSUE. Guess what, the $1,700,000.00 has been gone for a long time.

Now where will he get the $6,970,444.00? Not from the General Fund because it is in need of fiscal support by this $4 million Bond.

Perkins will pick and choose whichever projects will net him the most votes. A sidewalk or 2, paint the cemetary wall, slight improvements to the Stadium, and then the old shell game starts.

He'll start moving the Bond money from one place to another so fast that the Crenshaw Block can't follow it. Our city will end up with minor repairs and improvements, a more bulging city payroll, the same inadequate services, and a deficit in our yearly audits. The same as always except we will be $4,000,000.00 more in debt and Perkins in the Mayor's office. That will devastate the small amount of sanity we are holding on to.

One more important point to remember: When the $1,700,000.00 Issue is paid in full our taxes will go down! That should carry some weight when making a decision about Perkins' Bond. We need lower taxes!

Also, remember all these projects can (and will) be changed by the City Council. He has the majority. Does that tell you anything about where the money is headed?

Call your Councilperson! If this Bond Issue passes the Council, Perkins can make the votes count in his favor as he did in the last election and the Bond Issue may pass.

THIS BOND ISSUE MUST NOT GO TO THE BALLOT
