Council Meeting 9-25-06

The council meeting on 9-25-06 was a sight to behold. The division between good solid judgement and politics was more evident than ever.

From agenda approval to adjournment was a fiasco. The Crenshaw Five (Martin now included>, was determined to adopt anything the mayor proposed or that involved money for themselves.

Attempts to change the Water Board pay from illegal to legal by reduction was thwarted by the members who are serving on the board.

Councilman Leshore could not understand why he could not vote on his own salary. Does he know what a conflict of interest is?

The ethics complaint filed on May 2006 will be acted on after the election in November, then maybe they will understand what "illegal" means. How are they going to make restitution to the city for their illegal pay?

Crenshaw reverted to the "race card" and "divide and conquer" routine. Did anything she said make sense?

President Evans, starting with logic about the nearly one half million dollar variance between this year and last year's budget, caved in as always. He's a great actor isn't he?

Martin wagged her little "Perkins" tail and agreed with all he said. Does your job at the Old Depot Museum pay you enough money to throw away your reputation and self respect?

One of the most memorable moments was with the budget, accepted by all the council except two, had to be amended twice by the same seven council people who had just assured the taxpayers that the budget was a good one and that they understood it. The mayor and the consenting council was caught with pie on their faces. They had been untruthful about understanding the budget and deceptive with the reason for their voting the way they did.

Logic, open discussion, and the desire to move forward is lacking in the vision they are so frequently throwing at the public.

They are for themselves, of themselves, and by themselves in the decisions they make. Shameful, ain't it?!

This website has never seen public officials willing to sell their souls for votes. The problem is, they are selling the city's soul also.
