LEASHORE GONE WILD
2-2-07

Twas Sunday the 28th of January in '07
That noone was killed, we can all thank heaven

On duty Sunday night, police officers Harris and Whitt have a story to tell
About a City Councilman racing down Broad Street like a bat out of hell

Over the bridge, down Broad Street, like Jeff Gordon he flew
Going almost 100 miles per hour, Harris and Whitt did pursue

Sliding around the busy corner at Broad and Highland
The Councilman ignored the flashing lights, red lights, and other laws of the land

The chase continued until the driver skidded to a stop at DHR
He jumped out of his car shouting he had hurried from afar
Though no sound was heard from within
He insisted an activated alarm was the reason for his sin

Quickly identifying himself as City Councilman Leashore
He told Harris and Whitt to write a ticket no more
He called Mayor Perkins to tell the the policemen to let him go
But much to Leashore's surprise, Perkins said no

The ticket was written, as well it should have been
Though one of the policemen told the councilman
That Chief Martin would put the fix in

With the $25,000.00 Leashore rips off from the Water Board
And his $14,500.00 council salary, the city can not afford
We believe he can and should pay his speeding ticks
And we'll follow up to make sure this is one Martin does NOT fix

So in Selma, it's not Girls Gone Wild
But Councilman Leashore who breaks law like an undisciplined child

THIS INCIDENT WITH COUNCILMAN LEASHORE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 90 MILES PER HOUR WAS RELATED TO US BY POLICE OFFICERS AWARE OF THE CHASE. WE ARE GOING TO FOLLOW UP ON THIS TICKET AND SEE IF IT IS PAID OR IF MARTIN DOES FIX THE TICKET FOR LEASHORE.
