1. Police Chief Jimmy Martin is using Selma Police officers Michael Hardy and Jeffrey Hardy as Youth Minister and Choir Director at his church in Bibb County. Nothing wrong with that except Martin took one of the Hardy boys off his regular shift to work at the church AND PAID HIM AS IF HE HAD WORKED HIS REGULAR 8 HOUR SHIFT AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
2. The "Hardy Boys" are interesting figures and Martin's protégés and ears in the department. You will remember that one of the Hardy Boys was standing next to the young man who was killed in a drug related killing on Broad Street. This site is told by a former Selma police officer that a drug dealer gone bad was involved in the killing AND THAT THE BULLET WAS ACTUALLY MEANT FOR HARDY.
3. Within the last week, Michael Hardy was involved in ANOTHER fender bender (the Hardy Boys have wrecked at least 4 SPD cars and torn up transmissions in others) with a lady from Montgomery. Chief Martin called Hardy into his office AND UNPROFESSIONALLY REAMED HIM OUT IN FRONT OF THE LADY...and then the next day, called Hardy in and apologized for what he (Martin) had done.
4. RUMOR IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT is that Martin wants to take Hardy's gun from him because Hardy is supposed to be taking strong medications for his injury received in his latest wreck, but rumor also is that Martin wants to take Hardy's gun because he is afraid that Hardy might go off on him and use the weapon against Martin.
5. Jeffrey Hardy's wife just landed a plush job as Secretary to the Director of the City's Trustbuild Program. We wonder what the qualifications for that position are, especially since Dennis Rutledge, MAYOR PERKINS COUSIN, was hired for $23,450 as a Trustbuild Community Liason...OBVIOUSLY THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR BEING HIRED WITH TRUSTBUILD IS THAT YOU BE SOMEONE'S RELATIVE!!!
6. Chief Martin has given several written Memos to department personnel forbidding them from TALKING to each other---he must think they are talking about his ineptness.
SPECIAL MESSAGE TO POLICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL AND CITY HALL DEPARTMENT HEADS AND ASSISTANTS: We, at this site, know that many of you are totally dissatisfied with Chief Martin and Mayor Perkins, but are afraid of their threats, intimidations, etc. DO NOT LIVE IN FEAR! TOGETHER WE CAN STOP THIS TYRANNY in city government!
