Dear City Department Head, City Employee or Fellow Citizen:
Because you attended the City Council's Work Session last Thursday night, you know the following information is factual. For more than twenty-five (25) minutes, Council Members Bennie Ruth Crenshaw (Crenshaw) and Johnny Leashore (Leashore) verbally crucified Dr. Geraldine Allen, who was not present. Crenshaw and Leashore attacked Dr. Allen because Dr. Allen had voted for herself to be on the Selma Water Works and Sewer Board.
Because Dr. Allen voted for herself, Crenshaw and Leashore said that Dr. Allen had committed a criminal act, had violated the law, and had broken the Ethics Law. Even after I suggested that they not personally attack Dr. Allen because she was not present, Crenshaw and Leashore continued to accuse Dr. Allen of illegal conduct, criminal acts and generally made numerous mean spirited remarks about her.
All of this venom was directed at Dr. Allen because she had voted for herself to be on the Water Board. WHAT HYPOCRITES CRENSHAW AND LEASHORE ARE! HYPOCRITES, BECAUSE ON OCTOBER 4, 2004, CRENSHAW AND LEASHORE BOTH VOTED FOR THEMSELVES TO BE ON THE WATER BOARD! They did the very same thing THEY ATTACKED DR. ALLEN FOR DOING...and in 2004, City Attorney Jimmy Nunn did not raise any objections to Crenshaw and Leashore voting for themselves AND HE DID NOT RECOMMEND THAT WE TAKE ANOTHER VOTE.
You heard what Crenshaw and Leashore said about Dr. Allen and you saw the hateful manner in which they said it. For some reason, they did not want Dr. Allen on the Water Board.
I appeal to you not to support hypocrites like Crenshaw and Leashore. They owe Dr. Allen a public apology.
