When the Selma Times-Journal began to publish stories about the salaries of city employees, the outcry from city hall was loud and long. Apparently the protest from city hall were effective because the STJ only published stories about 4 city departments. Because we are not subject to the pressure which the STJ was subjected to, we publish below the salaries of the city department heads, MOST OF WHOM ARE PERKINS APPOINTEES WHOM WE CONTINUE TO URGE MAYOR EVANS TO REPLACE AND PUT PEOPLE LOYAL TO HIM IN THESE POSITIONS:

All of these individuals EXCEPT Reece and Kay Jones who were appointed by Mayor Smitherman, Ivy Harris and Mitchell appointed by the City Council, and Tomy Smith, Bessie Curtis and Mike Stokes appointed by Mayor Evans WERE ALL APPOINTEES OF MAYOR PERKINS. We again urge Mayor Evans to put people loyal to him in these positions!!
BOND ISSUE: We urge the citizens of Selma to vote FOR the Bond Issue on Tuesday, October 27, except for the last Proposition, Proposition 13, which is $100,000 for the Landfill because no one will say what this money is to be used for.
SCHOOL BOARD: We again congratulate the former City Council for the way it drew the districts for the school board election on October 27. Largely through the efforts of Council Members Williamson and Cain, Districts were drawn in such a way and the Chairman elected at large that it has forced the former Mayor to throw some of his supporters under the bus in order to try to elect others and has left his supporters running against one another in most districts.
HATE RADIO 105.3 and its biggest racist hater, the defeated and disgraced ex-Councilman Johnnie Leashore continues to spew venom on our community, especially on Mayor Evans and Councilmen Williamson, Tucker and Bowie. We were listening at Commissioner Turner on his program this week and believe that it is only a matter of time until he brings down hate radio 105.3.
And why are we paying Councilwoman Crenshaw a full salary since she regularly does not attend or leaves the council meetings an hour or two early to go and meet with Leashore to give him information for his vile diatribes.
