That THE DAY Hank Sanders wrote a column in the STJ lamenting that there were no jobs here that his misguided wife and her miserable mob of malcontents was appearing on Channel 8 standing in front of the Courthouse like screaming banshees with their signs, and another group of misfits was shown on Channel 8 sitting and shouting in front of the Selma School Board. Can’t everyone see the connection between no jobs in Selma and these malcontents and misfits always creating controversy and disturbances in this community! As long as these people are in Selma, there will be division, controversy, even hatred and NO JOBS coming!
We listened to the ignorant Johnnie Leashore on HATE RADIO 105.3 today and could not believe his abysmal ignorance. He sees in the removal of Mr. Jefferson as Superintendent an effort to fund CHARTER SCHOOLS. How misinformed and ignorant can one person be! The most disturbing thing the disgraced and defeated ex-councilman said was that Charter Schools were private. THE FACT IS THAT CHARTER SCHOOLS ARE PUBLIC SCHOOLS. While we do not think the current controversy in the Selma City Schools has anything to do with Charter Schools, we trust that thinking people in Selma will not be misled by Leashore’s ignorance about Charter Schools or anything else.
HOW IRONIC that HATE RADIO 105.3 had on Leashore’s program today an 11 year old. WHY WASN’T this kid in school at noon, IF THIS IS ABOUT THE CHILDREN. This whole thing is not about Mr. Jefferson-it is about JAMES PERKINS, JR AND HIS QUEST TO BE MAYOR. Has anyone been deceived by how out front of “the movement” Perkins and ALL HIS HENCHMEN have been since Jefferson was put on administrative leave. We trust that the Selma School Board will stand its ground and remove Jefferson as Superintendent.
We know that Mr. Jefferson can not run the Selma School System WITHOUT RAISING TAXES. If he remains Superintendent, the people can expect a tax increase or an effort to raise taxes next year. Remember his high handed effort shortly after becoming Superintendent to try to have the County Commission call an election to raise property taxes. Without authority from the Board, he tried to remove Ms. McCall at Selma High and now without authority, HE SIGNED a contract and spent over $150,000 without Board’s approval. We also know that other factors contributed to the majority of the Board placing him on administrative leave and that if the malcontents in the community continue their useless demonstrations that the whole truth will be made public!
As for Rose and her motley band of protestors at the Courthouse. She needs to get over it because the Republicans won the state wide races and they get to appoint the registrars and apparently they have appointed people who supported them. Rose will never understand that it is not RACE BUT POLITICS at work here. As for the fiasco surrounding Jefferson, she attributes that to “white supremacy”--even for her that is a stretch.
We find all of this ironic. After wrecking the Selma City School in 1990, is she not going to finish it off? And all the time, her husband wonders why there are no jobs here. Perhaps he should look at the other side of his bed and he would have his answer!
