Since becoming Police Chief, JIMMY MARTIN HAS DEGRADED THE SELMA POLICE DEPARTMENT BY HIRING PEOPLE WITH QUESTIONABLE AND EVEN CRIMINAL BACKGROUNDS TO BE POLICE OFFICERS. Martin has hired a youthful offender sex offender, men guilty of domestic abuse, individuals who have used drugs, people who have used marijuana in the last 3 years, homosexuals, fornicators, adulterers, and adultresses to be POLICE OFFICERS IN SELMA.

Approximately 4-6 months ago, the Selma Police Department hired a white male named Kevin Cook, and allowed him to work undercover making drug cases. Cook has prior law enforcement experience, but even the slightest background check should have been enough to throw up a red flag.
Cook has worked for Brent PD, Bibb Co. SO, Hale Co. SO, and other agencies. He never stays anywhere for very long. When he left Bibb Co, he was hired by Alabaster, but he quit the first day.
There was a meth cook named Bo-Bo Smith who was well known in Bibb County. After he was busted in Bibb Co, Smith moved to Hale Co. Cook knew him, and busted him in Hale Co. Then Cook gave Smith a job at his tile company, and asked that the charges against Smith be dismissed. Then Cook moved in with Smith.
Cook has been married and divorced several times. He was married to a girl from Selma, xxx (please don't use her name if this information is published.) xxx has had a drug problem for years. Cook used xxx to introduce him to drug users around Selma. He used his real name and his tile company as a cover. He even told people he used to be a cop, but he did drugs with them to gain their trust. He allegedly pulled out a bag of cocaine and shared it with several people when xxx introduced him a few months ago. He has prescriptions for pain pills, and gave pain pills to the people who bought drugs for him.
Cook sold aspirin and told people that it was ecstacy. The PD plans to make cases on the people he sold to, when in fact he has commited a crime. (Distribution of a Counterfeit Narcotic)
Cook claims that he was threatened and his cover blown. He told his supervisor he couldn't make any more cases, so they moved him to patrol. He worked 6 hours of one shift, then had to go to the hospital because his back was hurting. He is so addicted to pain killers, he went to the hospital to get injections. Pills no longer do him any good.
One person has already been arrested based on Cook's questionable work. This person is being held under a ridiculously high bond. Once defense attorneys start looking into Cook's background, these cases will go nowhere, and Cook will move up on. They told me in Bibb Co that when Cook worked there, he never showed up for Court, and every case he made was dismissed.
