WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT...

FRANKLIN FORTIER would be defending Mark Duke? Wasn't it Mark Duke who called Fortier's mother in law "the devil" and "Jezebel"? Seems to us Fortier has some misplaced priorities.

Fortier would say that the Dukester did not say what the Dukester plainly says on tapes which are posted on this website? Does Fortier know the difference between truth and error? As one listens to Mark Duke talk to his congregation in Colorado about coming to Selma, it is evident that he is trying to convince members of the House of God Church to follow him here. To do that, he presents Selma as a place that is just one step above hell, mired in the 1950's, full of hate, white supremacists, racists and in desperate need of hordes to come from Colorado to save the city. He described our city as full of incest, hate, rape and worse. Do not be misled by what Fortier says, Duke's own words speak for themselves.

Duke would condemn not only the entire city, but individuals in the city such as the Minters, Jewel Burns, Rose Sanders, Cecil Williamson, Gene Hisel, James Spicer (wait until you hear what he said about Rev. Spicer, who has welcomed him into his church). Duke and Fortier freely label everyone who disagrees with them "white supremacists" and "racists". Because neither one of them is from Selma, they do not realize that these buzz words no longer apply to 99% of the people in our city. The Dukester and Fortier are clearly two men who MISSED THE MOVEMENT and want to pretend that everyone in Selma is stuck in a 1960's time warp so THEY CAN RECREATE THE MOVEMENT and rid the city of white racists and supremacists. Men, come on into the 21st century with the rest of Selma and see the real problems here which are crime, poverty, immorality, drop outs, need for jobs-deal with the real problems rather than those you conjure up from your 1960's mindset. BLACKS AND WHITES IN SELMA HAVE PROGRESSED FAR BEYOND where your mind and efforts are.

While another murder was being committed on Broad Street, Police Chief Riley is wasting his time playing in the Suess musical. What the Chief does on his own time is his own business, but these murders and rampant crime in Selma are his and everyone's business. ONCE THE CRIME IS UNDER CONTROL, we think it will be fine for the Chief to become a stage star and help Mark Duke and the Freedom Foundation, if he chooses to do so.

Blacks and whites in Selma have new hope with the recent elections in our city, even though members of the Dukester's Freedom Foundation supported the re-election of Mayor Perkins and put his signs in their yards. We believe that Mayor Evans was elected because people wanted to be united-not divided by outsiders who have no idea of the progress that has been made between the races here in recent years. We urge everyone not to be misled by the false prophets and false teachers recently come to our town-especially not to be misled by a man who will not even stand up for members of his own family!!
