FREEDOM FOUNDATION CAUSES DIVISION
6-30-08

While Mark Duke and his Freedom Foundation members talk about unity and love, they actually bring division and animosity. There are 2 aspects of the Freedom Foundation's move to Selma that are just coming to light, which should concern people in Selma who want to believe the best about strangers who come in the guise of Christianity.

1. How many divorces resulted when the Freedom Foundation members moved to Selma? We are told that more than 2 or 3 wives left their husbands or fiancées to follow Mr. Duke to Selma. This is very disturbing to us and certainly is unbiblical. We know the names of a couple of women who did this and are seeking the names of others. This should be very troubling to Christians, that even one woman would leave her husband or fiancée in Colorado to follow Mr. Duke to Selma.

2. How many children (grown) have been alienated from their own parents by what we believe (our opinion) is this cult? We know for a fact that some members of the Freedom Foundation who came to Selma have chosen to cut themselves off from any contact with their own mothers. This is cruel to treat one's parents like this and certainly is not honoring one's father and mother. We want to know if Mr. Duke sanctions such conduct on the part of the members of his group.

The division and strife which Mr. Duke and his followers have caused in Selma pales in comparison to the division caused when divorces result and children forsake their parents. We know it is difficult for people to get out of what we believe (our opinion) is a cult, but we urge Foundation members who may have left husbands and fiancées in Colorado to be reconciled to them and we especially urge Foundation members in Selma who have been alienated from their parents to PLEASE reestablish contact with your parents, who love you and want you back as part of the family you grew up in.

We are more convinced in our opinions about Mr. Duke and the Freedom Foundation each day. We believe they are saying one thing publicly, but that their actions are having the opposite affect in the community, in churches, and unfortunately, in marriages and families.
