CIRCUIT COURT DEALS PERKINS, CRENSHAW, LEASHORE, AND WATER BOARD A CRUSHING LEGAL DEFEAT

Dr. Geraldine Allen placed on Selma Water Board by Court
In an order issued June 26th, THE CIRCUIT COURT TOTALLY REJECTED THE EFFORTS OF PERKINS AND THE WATER BOARD TO KEEP DULY ELECTED MEMBER, Dr. Geraldine Allen, from serving on the Water Board. AFTER GIVING HIS BROTHER-IN-LAW thousands of dollars in LEGAL FEES, Perkins now must find a way to cover up the enormous legal fees and salaries being paid by the Water Board.
If you want to know why your water rates have increased more than 60% in the last few years and are slated to increase EVERY year for the next ten years, look no further than who serves as Superintendent of the Board and as members of the Board; Perkins, Crenshaw, and Leashore. And we must remark how disappointed we have been by the actions and lack of actions of Aubrey "Brother" Vick as a member of the board. We were especially disappointed when Vick voted to make Leashore Chairman of the Board at a salary of MORE than $25,000 a year. With Dr. Allen and Rev. Goodwin, we hope that Mr. Vick will rediscover his moral compass and help make Leashore and Crenshaw a minority on the Board. We encourage citizens to speak to Mr. Vick and urge him to seperate himself from Crenshaw and Leashore!
For five months, Perkins and the Water Board, with the Mayor's brother-in-law and April E. Albright as Board attorneys, HAVE KEPT DR. ALLEN OFF OF THE WATER BOARD WITH A FRIVOLOUS LEGAL ACTION IN CIRCUIT COURT.
The Court found that the Board DID NOT EVEN HAVE LEGAL STANDING to bring the action it brought to keep Dr. Allen off of the Board. If you carefully read the Court's decision which follows, especially the last two pages, you will see what a crushing defeat this was for the Water Board, AND FOR THEIR ATTORNEYS WHO APPARENTLY DID NOT KNOW THAT THE BOARD HAD NO STANDING TO BRING THIS ACTION! This was a harassment of Dr. Allen pure and simple and Perkins and his Board should be ashamed of themselves!
We are convinced that the way to stop the dictorial, high handed, questionable tactics of Mayor Perkins and his secretive and mean administration IS IN THE COURTS! With the Supreme Court decision against Perkins and the City in the suit against the County over the Tower and now this defeat in Circuit Court, he is 0 and 2 in Court cases...and there are going to be more challenges to him and his tyrannical ways in Court soon!
