Talk about smoke-screens! Mayor Perkins calls a press conference to discuss alledged problems in the magistrates office.... well Whoop-de-Doo!!!
Why don't you and your Police Chief call a press conference to discuss why it took (according to Selma Times Journal reports) over an hour for the Selma Police Department, for which you are responsible, to respond to an attempted child abduction!!
Parents of children in Selma, please read the following article that appeared in the August 21, 2007 edition of the Selma Times Journal.
Pay attention to the fact that there is a physical description of the suspect and his vehicle.
Why weren't police immediately ordered into the area in attempt to locate the suspect? You had his description. Don't we have competent leadership?
Why did it take three 911 calls and an hour and fifteen minutes to get an officer on the scene? You claim we have enough officers. Enough for what?
Mayor, exactly how many Selma Police Officers and cars do you have working on the "Trust Build" program? If they had been on patrol Monday afternoon might they had made a difference?
Don't let Mayor Perkin's misplaced priorities and smoke screens blind you to the real issues in Selma!
Are your Children safe ? Does the Selma Police Department have a large enough prescence on the streets to be a deterent to criminals? Do they have enough officers to respond in a timely manner?
Who's fault is it? Be honest with your answer and vote what you know to be true next election.
If it hadn't been for the God sent intervention of the lady the child could be dead.
Don't be intimidated..... come election day.....
Save Selma....
