We are asking Councilmen Williamson and Cain to call for a JUSTICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATION OF THE SELMA POLICE DEPARTMENT. We do not believe the ABI is the group to investigate police brutality in Selma. How many more blacks are going to be beaten up by Perkins and Martins' Police Department before the black community rises up and demands some answers and some changes?!
ANOTHER INCIDENT TOOK PLACE, AT SELMA HIGH SCHOOL, THE OTHER NIGHT, IN WHICH ANOTHER YOUNG MAN WAS BEATEN UP BY SPD AND HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL...WE URGE THE MOTHER OF THIS YOUNG MAN TO COME FORWARD AND MAKE THIS KNOWN TO THE PUBLIC BY APPEARING BEFORE THE SELMA CITY COUNCIL ON APRIL 9th.

We also urge the Gordon and Hollman famalies to come before the City Council and make known what happened to their family members on West Street...It is reprehensible that a Selma Police Officer would kick any man who is on the ground handcuffed.
MAYOR PERKINS, WHEN are you going to FIRE Jimmy Martin and put someone in charge of the SPD who actually knows how to hire, interview, select, and train police officers?
MAYOR PERKINS, YOU ALONE are responsible for the SPD AND FOR THIS WEBISTE BEING IN EXISTENCE!!! We repeatedly tried to get you to end this crime epidemic in our neighborhood...we begged you to increase patrols in our area...YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING...First Baptist is still having to pay deputy sheriffs to guard people going to CHURCH...one block from your palatial office in City Hall.
We started this website to let the people of Selma know that all you do is talk, talk, talk - no action to end crime. Because of your inaction, this website has gone from a small, barely viewed website, to a website that gets thousands and thousands of visitors daily. We would seriously consider shutting down this website if you would fire Jimmy Martin and get a competent police chief! But until you do, WE ARE GOING TO DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO EXPOSE YOU AND MARTIN FOR TURNING OVER THE CITY TO CRIMINALS AND LETTING SOME POLICE OFFICERS BRUTALIZE CITIZENS!!
And where are the BLACK Councilmembers who do nothing while their own people are brutalized? You can bet Crenshaw, Leashore, Randolph, and Venter would be raising hell in the streets if Selma had a white Mayor and white police chief letting white officers beat up black people...but since Perkins and Martin can do no wrong in the eyes of the Crenshaw Block and 90% of our police force is black, these 4 characters on the Council do NOT make a peep when blacks are beaten up and brutalized!
And speaking of Leashore...has his ticket been fixed yet? Was he sent a Failure to Appear letter when he did not show up for Court on Feb. 27th? Has a date been set for him to plead guilty or not guilty to RECKLESS DRIVING on City streets and NOT HAVING A LICENSE IN HIS POSSESSION? Our money is on his ticket being fixed by Martin, City Prosecutor Alston Keith, and new City Judge Prince Chestnut; and we think it will happen sooner rather than later! While everyone else pays his/her speeding tickets, City Councilman Leashore goes FREE! Mayor Perkins, what ever happened to all your self-righteous talk that you were never going to fix a ticket for anyone - REMEMBER WHEN YOU SAID THAT AT ONE OF THE INDUSTRY RECRUITING MEETINGS??
AND we want to know WHY SO MANY OF OUR PROMINENT BLACK PREACHERS DO NOT LIVE IN SELMA? We have Gary Crum, Rodney Moton, Ezekial Pettway all living in VALLEY GRANDE and the pastor of Browns Chapel does he even live in Dallas County, or does he just work in Montgomery? When even middle and upper class blacks won't live in Selma, YOU CAN BE SURE SOMETHING IS WRONG IN CITY HALL!!!
And we wonder, if the City has so much money, why is the Mayor asking Council Members to give $700 each to buy a $7,000 dishwasher for the Convention Center? AND what happens to the money the City gets for renting the Convention Center - which is booked for a year in advance? DO YOU KNOW that if you want to rent the Convention Center, it will cost you $150, but if a member of the City Council says they want to use it for an organization, IT COSTS NOTHING TO RENT!!!
AND FINALLY...WE ARE CHALLENGING PERKINS to show us where on this website we have ever called a woman who works in the City, "the word" that he so eloquently accused us of using. Mayor, we await your response - or is this just another one of your lies???
