The Selma City Council is accepting applications for the positions of City Clerk and the City Finance Director. THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS THIS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5th, AT 4:30 p.m. AT THE OFFICE OF THE CITY COUNCIL IN CITY HALL (second floor).
If you are interested in either of these positions, PLEASE APPLY today by taking a resume to the City Council Secretary, Diana Johnson, at City Hall (874-1234). Interviews will be conducted next Monday, December 8th, and officials will be elected at the Council meeting on Tuesday, December 9th.
The present salary of the City Clerk is $42,000 a year and the salary of the Finance Director is $52,000 a year. RESIDENTS OF SELMA ARE PREFERRED.
These positions have been advertised in the Times-Journal, but there have been only a handful of applicants. At the insistence of Council members Crenshaw and Randolph, a vote was taken on reappointing the present officials to these posts for the next 4 years. The Council voted 5-2 with one abstention NOT to rehire City Clerk Lois Williams and Finance Director Cynthia Mitchell. They are continuing to serve until their replacements are elected by the Council.
