In the Works...
- Phase Two of T-Shirt Sale: One of our first tasks of 2004 will be to tie-dye and sell some more shirts (handmade with homosexual love). People snatched them up like they were chocolate-flavored crack during the last sale, so we're looking to raise massive funds.
- Ally Program: Some of the massive funds we raise from the t-shirt sale will go toward our tentatively-titled Ally Program. The goal of this program is to make students aware of teacher allies, identifying individuals that are willing to provide a safe haven, a listening ear,and support for lgbt students or anyone dealing with sexual orientation issues. Inspiration is drawn from the Texas A&M University Ally Program.
- Transsexual Assembly: So one day, we sat by the soda machine, right smack in the middle of the North Hunterdon hallway and interrogated students. "What does it mean to be transgendered?" was our appeal that verged on harassment. Our peers reciprocated with scornful and/or blank stares and more than one "that's a fag." Sounds like a lecture is due, eh? We're attempting to find a bonafide transgendered person to talk to the student body about their experiences as a transsexual and celebrations of diversity.
- More stuff. We're still thinking. Ideas? northgsa@mail.com
