My Dad is born at 1939 in Josholdia village, Bikrum Pur. He had jointed in the East Bengal Regiment as a "boys' cadet" while he was fourteen and server in the Pakistan Army for 17 years. He was the best swimmer in East and West Pakistan and had won lots of champignship medal on swimming, specially in 1962 he had won the gold medal in International Sports Competation in Iran. In 1965 he had awarded "Shatera-E-Hoalf" (star-soldier) for his bravery in India-Pakistan war. In 1970, he had been taken self-retairnment when the Pakistan Army had broke dowm East Bengal Resiment. He have got married that time and start his own business. In 1971, he had trained freedom fighters by himself and under his command his gorilla-team had fought against Pakistani Army for 9 months. He declared Bikrum Pur save from Pakistani Army at the first week of december 1971. For his great contributation for the independence of Bangladesh, he has been awarded as a "Bir-Protik". He has been serving Bangladesh Swimming Federation since last 11 years. In 2002 he has received National Sports Award in swimming from the Bangladesh Government. |
