Summary of Work and
Results
The
Jampang KP application is considered to be highly prospective for
"epithermal" (in the broad sense) and related styles of
mineralisation. Historically, mining of high grade epithermal quartz and base
metal veins was carried out by the Dutch and PT Aneka Tambang and is still
continued by local villagers throughout West Java and in similar geological
setting elsewhere in Indonesia. Examples of these styles of mineralisation in
West Java include Gunung Ponkor, Cikatomas, Cikotok and Gunung Subang/Cariu.
The generally inferred source of this mineralisation has been Miocene age
intrusives of andesitic and dacitic composition. Previous work undertaken by
both PT Aneka Tambang and the Directorate of Mineral Resources has defined
numerous areas of potential gold and base metal mineralisation within the KP
application area. The presence of mineralisation is confirmed by the activity
of local inhabitants, who are in places working highgrade vein systems.
