A good reception guaranteed.
The real-life story of Rwandan hotel manager Paul
Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle), who sheltered over a thousand refugees during
the civil war, is given a big-screen makeover. Thankfully low on sentiment,
the film allows the horrific situation to speak for itself and, apart from
the occasional wobbly set à la Neighbours, cleverly achieves an underlying
sense of fear throughout. This is a heart-wrenching film that demands your
attention. Like the conflict itself, it’s far too important to be ignored.
