"There is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his Prophet!" "The German Race is genetically predispositioned to kill Jews!" "Jihad! All infidels must die!" "The whole world is run by the Illuminati who are ruled by the Zionist Occupational Government which is itself a member of the Trilateral Committee!" These statements all have one thing in common; they are Beliefs. There are no documentable proofs to corroborate the "Universal Truth" of any of these blanket statements. Yet, there are human beings on this planet who persist in upholding these statements as Absolute Truth. Robert Anton Wilson has opined that the world seems to be overun with rival bands of hypnotists running around trying to convince one another that their paradigm of reality is the only True Reality. This author is inclined to agree. Having escaped the tunnel reality of the Pentacostal Christ Killing Bible Thumpers, I can personally affirm that "Reality is Plural and Mutable". Some Belief systems are less harmful than others and Uncle Aleister once opined that one should adopt as many beliefs systems simultaneously as possible to confirm for ones self the validity/invalidity of the all. If this can be done successfully, one might possibly come to a fully actualized awareness of the Tibetan Buddhist idea of the Emptiness of all Phenomena. However, if the aspirant fails to maintain the awareness that all Belief Systems are merely the maps of the territory and not the territory itself, one might get dangerously close to that mental state described by psychologists/psychiatrists as Paranoid Schizophrenia. Indeed, it is quite possible to drive oneself Batshit Crazy. The Way is narrow and few there are who go along it. Being unable or unwilling to adopt multiple Belief Systems, I content myself with Discordian Thelemic influenced Chaos Majick and Tibetan Buddhism. The Buddhist keeps the Discordian in me from becoming a cynical fire brandishing Anarchist {not that there is anything wrong with cynical fire brandishing Anarchists, really some of my best friends are cynical fire brandishing Anarchists} while the Discordian in me keeps the Buddhist from becoming a hardened Greyface. This is a Discordian Web Site however so I include very little pure Buddhism here.
Dogma, as the bane of true religious aspiration, has moved me, in true Discordian fashion to adopt Katmas for the Fnordian Eristocrazy.
