The purpose of this assignment is to introduce some web-based writing resources and to develop your writing and critical thinking skills. For this assignment you will explore a website and evaluate its value in supporting your development as a writer. In order to get the most out of this exercise, you should briefly look at each of the websites below before choosing the one that seems to offer the most benefit for your specific writing needs.
After exploring the website in general and investigating four or five topics of particular interest to you, prepare a review that includes the following:
Introduction: Briefly describe the website (including its purpose and audience) and outline the topics that are offered.
Body: Evaluate the website by considering the following criteria:
- Coverage of topics - Is the range of topics useful? Are there any topics that are missing?
- Quality of information - Is there sufficient depth and detail? Is the information useful? Is it explained clearliy? Draw on the topics you investigated in detail to provide examples that illustrate your points.
- Ease of use - Is the visual presentation clear? Is the website easy to navigate? Is it searchable?
- Other - Include other information relevant to your evaluation of the website.
Conclusion: What are the overall strengths and/or weaknesses of the website? How valuable is this website for senior students? Why?
