Constitution
The Model United Nations (M.U.N.) club, which is associated with the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNAUSA), serves to promote an understanding of the principles and procedures of the United Nations and matters of international importance. Members represent nations of the UN at simulations of the General Assembly at county level conferences. Through representing other nations, members learn to appreciate other cultures and state policy. Once a year, Deland High School hosts a county meet, which is planned and organized by the club members. At state conferences members have the opportunity to observe other aspects of the United Nations through involvement in other committees of the UN, such as: Security Council, Economic and Social Council, General Assembly Plenary Committee, etc. Model UN is devoted to cultural and ethnic tolerance and puts an emphasis on the importance of the global community.
