Mission Statement

Spring Valley Baptist Church exists to glorify God by reflecting the spirit of Jesus

Christ in attitude and action, which gives itself to stewardship and sacrificial service,

to transform hearts and minds with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through planned

intentional relationships with God first and then all people.

Purpose

The purpose of Spring Valley Baptist Church is to glorify God by developing

disciplemakers who exalt God, edify other believers, evangelize those in the

local commummity starting in their own community, and extend disciplemaking

to all the world.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our Beliefs are summarized for your benefit. All of these statements are consistent with scripture and our Baptist Faith and Message.

Beliefs

Spring Valley Baptist Church is a family of believers who hold dear the following beliefs:

God – We believer that there is only one God who resides in three persons: The Father, the

Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus – We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and

wholly man, lived a sinless life, and died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind.

Holy Spirit – We believe that God the Holy Spirit is active in convincing unbelievers of their

need for salvation, and is the counselor and guide who lives in every believer.

Resurrection – We believe that Jesus Christ was buried, arose bodily from the grave, and

ascended into Heaven.

Christ’s Return – We believe that Jesus Christ will literally return to earth to gather the

Body of Christ.

Bible – We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, infallible, without any mixture

of error, and the sole authority for life and faith.

Man – We believe that man is the creation of God, made in His image, but that through the

sin, mankind fell so that all men are sinners and need salvation.

Salvation – We believe that salvation is a gift received through repentance toward God and

faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Eternal Security – We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in

the Lord Jesus Christ.

Eternity – We believe there is a literal Heaven for those persons who die with their sins

forgiven through Christ and a Hell for those persons who die in their sins without the

forgiveness of Christ.

Baptism – We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ

and is by immersion after salvation.

Lord’s Supper – We believe that the observance of the Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of

obedience whereby baptized believers, through partaking of the bread and fruit of the vine,

commemorate the death of Jesus Christ and anticipate His second coming.

Church – We believe that the Church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord

Jesus Christ as the Head.

Prayer – We believe that each believer has direct access to God by petition and intercession

through the Lord Jesus Christ.
