                                                Cranfield University

This section tells you a little bit about the university and what life is like on the campus.

Cranfield University is one of Western Europe’s largest academic centers for strategic and applied research, development and design. It is unique in its almost entirely postgraduate focus. The university is made up of three campuses Cranfield, Silsoe and Shrivenham (The Royal Military College of Science or The Defense Academy).

Cranfield Campus

Cranfield campus in Bedfordshire embraces our bustling airport - another unique feature - in extensive grounds with plenty of free car parking, excellent housing provision and superb sports and recreation facilities.

Here you will find the School of Engineering, Cranfield School of Management and the School of Industrial and Manufacturing Science, all offering entry at graduate level only.

As a result the atmosphere is mature and focused, with an established infrastructure which makes study and leisure time productive and enjoyable. Many opportunities may also be available through the Cranfield College of Aeronautics.

Silsoe Campus

A few miles further east is Silsoe, an idyllic setting for our postgraduate courses concerned with sustaining the earth's precious resources and the health of nations. Recent redevelopment has resulted in a tailored research village and additional leisure options including the new student bar. Here you will find Cranfield University’s centre of excellence for the environmental and life sciences.

You will sense a real community spirit when you come to Cranfield University at Silsoe. Very quickly you will feel settled and be mixing with other professionals whose mature career outlook makes this a very special place to live and work.

At Silsoe we want you to have the best of all worlds – easy access to big city living without the big city costs. Everything you need is either within walking distance or just a short car ride away; there’s free parking, no traffic jams, and accommodation on a budget you can truly afford.

                   Shrivenham Campus

The Royal Military College of Science, a Ministry of Defense establishment on the Oxfordshire/Wiltshire borders, is a spectacular campus complete with outdoor heated swimming pool, golf course and a wide variety of other sporting facilities.

Under the command of a Major General, RMCS integrates the resources of the MoD and Cranfield University to deliver a wide range of postgraduate courses in science, engineering and management related to the defense sector, most of which are open to military and non-military students alike. We take the lead in academic input, and award our degrees for successful study. Serving officers from the Armed Forces take the lead in demonstrating its practical application.

Shrivenham itself lies in the picturesque Vale of the White Horse, close to the M4 Motorway which links London and South Wales. It is eight miles (12 km) from Swindon, the nearest town, which lies off the M4 at the hub of Britain’s motorway network.

We are well positioned for the rest of the country too, with Bath, Cheltenham, Bristol and Oxford all within an hour’s drive and London less than two hours away.
