A Commentary on the Pentateuch - Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy.

.

The Pentateuch is the name given to the five 'writings of Moses', Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Genesis is the book of beginnings. In Genesis will be found the story of creation, followed by the fall, the flood, and the lives of the patriarchs. In Exodus will be found the story of the deliverance from Egypt and the giving of the covenant containing the ten commandments. In Leviticus are found details of the religious ordinances of Israel. In Numbers we have the story of their first journey to the promised land leading up to the moment of second entry although it contains very little about the actual thirty eight year wandering in the wilderness. In Deuteronomy we have Moses final farewell speeches, preparatory to entering Canaan. Thus Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy comprise the whole story of God's salvation history from Adam to the appointment of Joshua. For the Commentary on the Pentateuch see below.
