These are the assignments for
the week of August 6-10. Use the web sites listed below to find the
information that you need for your activities. Please check the grading
rubric before you begin your project, so that you are aware of what
is required! Have a "peach of a time" discovering Georgia!

Use the dictionary to define
the word symbol
Make a list of as many United States symbols as you can think of. Use the overhead to check your answers. Read through the Georgia welcome information with a partner. Look for Georgia symbols while you are reading. Complete the symbol chart using the pictures on the web sites. |

Go to the Georgia Map web
site. Print a copy of the outline map for the state of Georgia.
Use the wall map to label four major landforms in the state of Georgia as well as two major rivers. Label the state capitol as well. label neatly, as your map will be included in your Georgia pamphlet! Next you will need to find 4 or more famous landmarks and or places to visit in the state of Georgia. You may use your Georgia booklet, or the following web sites to find them. Label them as correct as possible on your map. |

Look through the Georgia travel pamphlets with your partner. Choose two of the sites to look at travel guides. Use a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the sites. |

you may copy it into an e-mail to send.
Use any of the Georgia web-sites we have visited to find 4 pictures of the Georgia state symbols. Try to find the clearest pictures available. Print these on the color printer. Make a list of the web sites that you used for pictures. |

information for your pamphlet. Be creative- use different colors and fonts,
experiment with word art as well.
Begin putting your pamphlet together - neatness counts! On Monday you will share your pamphlet with the class, then as a group we will put together our slide show. |
