One sentence can describe how I feel about this band: I LOVE THE BRILLIANT GREEN! A.k.a. "Buri Guri", this awesome band debuted in 1997 with their first single, "Bye, Bye Mr. Mug". The Brilliant Green first began with high schoolers Matsui and Okuda formed their own band and needed a lead vocal. After seeing Tomoko in a live performance and a music club, they asked her to join. Thus, in 1995, the Brilliant Green was formed.

They had a decent start up the pop charts, but relly made their hit with "There will be love there", their third single. This song eventually became the theme song of the TV Drama, Love Again. Their next singles continued to creep up the charts, and when their albums came out, they did just as well. Tommy was a VJ for MTV at the time, which slowly upped their profile. One of my faorite song by the group is "Hello Another Way", which, of course, did awesome on the charts.

Many may wonder why is The Brilliant Green so brilliant [haha..excuse my pun]. This rock/alternative band has this special quality about the songs that anyone, including me, can notice after hearing just a few samples. Tommy's lyrics are sipmly beautiful. Some of their songs are all in English, which show their charisma and creative thinking. Even though they may not be 100% fluent in the language, you must give kudos for their great effort. Most of the times, the English turns out to be really effective in their songs. I really love this band; I got really hooked into their songs in just a few minutes when I heard a few clips. My friends always hear me rant and rave constantly about how great they really are...which, unlike other bands, is true 100%! In my own ranking for the best bands of the world, the brilliant green will always be my #1! (after tbg is goo goo dolls, do as infinity, and then every little thing lol).

What's really neat is the in the TIME magazie Fall 2001 special issue, "Music Goes Global", The Brilliant Green was chosen as one of the world's best bands. Well, there's no surprise there. They have something really special about them, and I know they will continue making beautiful music and touching the lives of many.I LOVE THE BRILLIANT GREEN!
