Pamper Your Mistresses.
- Just because they like it and are very worthy of doting and affection.
Secondary Characters & Gold Swapping.
- If you use a secondary character (or 3rd, 4td, etc) to gain gold and experience points for your main character, BE CAREFUL. The mods and admins can track your IP address and know that you are cheating. If you want to use a secondary character, I suggest you let email or YOM me (dargh) and give me your secondary character's name and password. I'll post that info on this website. When you're ready to have your main character win the gold and experience points from your secondary character, I'll shout it in the clan hall so whatever willing and available clan member can log in as the secondary character and either wait in the fields for your main character to attack them, or attack your main character in the feilds. That way, you can have the gold and experience points and not get caught cheating! Of course, you have to keep your secondary character weaker than your main character so your main character will win in a PVP! A good idea is to have several characters varied in levels so your main character has the opportunity to gain gold or experience points at any level.
Axle suggested that instead of a secondary character, you may chose a 'buddy,' and coordinate your bounties so that your buddy wins all your gold in PVP's before you DK. Have your buddy hold your gold (and vise versa) until you/they are able to bounty it back.
DUH. I just thought of something. Why not use your secondary character to benefit other clan members? If we ALL use them, we'll all gain - without having to have a PVP set up. Whenever you feel like it, log in as your secondary character, and then wait in the feilds for a WPR to attack you! Of course, chances are a non WPR will find you, too... but we can cut that down by YOMming online clan members that we're logging off (name of your secondary character) and to come attack for points!
Flirt with Seth and Violet.
-Start small and work your way up to marriage. (You will know you're ready to move to the next 'phase' of flirting when you no longer receive a charm point) The goal is to acumulate charm points - which after a dragon kill GIVES YOU GEMS. The number of gems depends on how many charm points you are ABOVE the minumum required to marry. Also, when you've 'married' Seth or Violet, flirt with them before you fight in the forest. They'll enspire you with lover's protection, increasing your armor.
Ask Seth to Entertain
Sometimes you'll find gold, receive an extra forest fight, gain a charm point, or regain all your hitpoints. Careful. Sometimes he'll steal a few gold, causesome hit point damage, takea charm point, or depress you so that you lose a forest fight.
Drink Ale
- You gain temporary hit points and your attack goes up for 10 rounds. When it fades, drink more ale. To get rid of you're "drunkeness" so your type is readable in the village, go to the outhouse. Apparently, drinking ale can at times give an extra forest fight, as well (according to Lordisfun..)
The Outhouse
The free outhouse is pointless unless all you'd like to do is make your type readable by peeing out the ale. Use the outhouse that requires 5 gold. Wash your hands. You get 3 gold back for being clean, plus you may find a gem near the door.
Get a Mount
Mounts give all kinds of advantage. Some are better than others, all do something different. Refer to the Mounts & Familiars Info page for more information.
Buy Hit Points
With 2 Gems, you can buy one hit point from Cedric in the Inn. Talk to Cedric, and hit 'Gems.' You will have these options:
Charm - 2 Gems Gives you 1 charm point (4 gems = 2, etc)
Vitality - 2 Gems Gives you 1 permanent hit point (4 gems = 2, etc)
Health - 2 Gems gives you 20 temporary hit points for fighting in the forest, attacking players or your master. (4 gems = 2, etc)
Forgetfullness - 2 Gems (don't give more than 2, because it will not do anything but take your gems) Will enable you to revive your specialty like it's a new day
Transmutation - 2 Gems (don't give more than 2 here, either) will enable you to switch race (elf, human, etc)
Boost your Armor & Weapon
When you kill the dragon, you receive a "dragon point," which you must use before you can begin your new day as a higher level player. Your choices are +5 Hitpoints, +1 Forest Fight, +1 Armor, and +1 Weapon. Though it is really your choice, I suggest you bulk up on armor and weapons for a while before bulking up on forest fights. It gives you an advantage, especially as a level 5 or below by making you strong enough to win perfect forest fights. We all know a perfect forest fight gives you a free forest fight. In essense, you can, as a level 2 player after having killed the dragon 5 times, 20 forest fights simply by giving yourself +3 armor and +2 weapon. As you gain in power, forest creatures will also gain. After a time of bulking your armor and weapon, you may want to give yourself a few extra forest fights just so you do not rely soley on winning perfect forest fights on stronger creatures. The reason to stay away from giving yourself +5 hitpoints is if you use the "flirting with Seth and Violet" hint, you'll have enough gems to purchase hit points from Cedric in the Inn.
Know when to Use the Beta
If you do NOT use Beta (the pavillion) then the creatures you encounter will be much weaker and easier to defeat. The time to switch over to Beta is right before you kill the dragon. Because the creatures in the Beta version are harder to kill, the game writer compensated by making the dragon easier to kill. After the DK, switch back over to the NON Beta Version
Suicide and Buying Weapons & Armor
Suicide when you're at a lower level. Build up as much gold as you can and buy weapons and armor. People who attack you won't expect a level 2 player to have 15 armor or weapon. The time to purchase your armor and weapons are both:
1,2,5,10, and 15. If you purchase a weapon or armor in between these, you're wasting a LOT of gold. Also, if you suicide - either use a stronger clan member (if you want to donate 15% of your experience points) or allow yourself to be defeated in the forest (you lose only 5% experiene points). When you are resurrected, you can easily make up 5% experience points, even with the fewer forest fights allowed after a resurrection, and you'll aquire more gold. If you want to maximize your gold, don't allow yourself to advance to level 2 for awhile. Challenge your master when you have few hit points left so you fail. Suicide in the forest and resurrect. Do that for a few days, you'll have a level 1 player with full armor and weapons - which will get you a million perfect fights in the forest. BOOCKOO gold and experience points for FAST advancement!
How to get Info on an Enemy
You need a mount for this - but go to the Black Horse Inn and talk to the bar tender. Ask him about your enemies. He'll ask for 100 gold, but he'll tell you your enemy's armor, weapon, number of hitpoints, and level. From there you can decide whether or not you want to attack someone.
How to use Colors
You can ask the bartender in the Dark Horse Inn, or Cedrik if you successfully bribe him. But don't bother. I'm going to tell you. For emoticons (your character's actions, usually depicted in white) type : followed by whatever action you'd like your character to make. For colors, type ` (it's the button next to the number 1 with the ~) followed by a number. If you want bright red, hit `4 - if you want dark red, hit `$ (4 shift keys) All the numbers to 7 have a color (and the numbers plus shift have the brighter version of the number colors) But if you want brown or orange, hit `q or `Q.
What "Something Special" in
the forest REALLY means
The only time I do 'something special' in the forest is when the knome askes a riddle, the man wants to play a guessing game and I need gold, a fairy asks for a gem, or Crazy Audrey wants me to play with her kittens. Ignore the mines, the river water, the paths, saving the prince/princess from an unwanted marriage, or stonehenge. The risks are too high, and the rewards not worth it. You can lose your life, your gold, your experience points, and your MOUNT.
What does "Haunt a Foe" mean?
When you've died and have tormented enough souls, you can ask Ramius, the God of Death, to haunt a foe or to be resurrected. Resurrection obviously means, you come back to life (with fewer forest fights) To haunt a foe, you spend 25 soul points, and you chose someone you (typically) don't like in the game. The next time that person logs on (if your haunt was successful) that person will lose a forest fight. Sometimes haunting is not successful, however. No worries. The person you attempted to haunt won't know you tried unless you were successful.
To Gamble or not to Gamble?
In the Dark Horse Inn, there is a man who asks if you'd like to gamble. Don't gamble if you need over 500 gold. I don't gamble at ALL.. it's very, very, very difficult to win. But if you decide to gamble, here's a trick. Bring with you 3x's the amount you'd like to win. Bet the exact amount you want to win. If you lose, double the bet, or keep doubling the bet until you win. That way, you have exactly the amount you'd like. This is a great way to lose EVERYTHING you brought with you, however.
When to Attack and when not to
Attack
Depending on your character's experience points, armor, and weapon, don't attack anyone at a higher level than you. But take care. The number of dragon kills effects what a character may have taken from their dragon points - expect higher armor, weapons, and hit points even if they are at a lower level than you. Characters who have been resurrected a high number of times may have been bulking up on their armor and weapons, so be wary of them. There is no safe attack. The game is rigged to be more rude to those who attack - even if you attack someone weaker than you in every respect. Attacking someone in the Inn is worse. Your armor goes down by 1 to several points giving a distinct advantage to the attackee. For example - I've DK'd over 10 times. I've attacked a FARMBOY in the inn, with over 70 hitpoints fewer, and I had at the time full armor and weapons + armor and weapons from dragon points. I still was defeated.
What Hunter's Lodge Points do
Lodge points! You have to DK once to get in to the lodge, but once you've done so, look around. You can get points by referring other players (or making yourself a new character) and getting to level 4. You receive 25 points for referrals. You can pay real $ using paypal and receive points that way, but if you're like me, you're cheap and don't want to spend money. The points themselves give several options. 30 gives you 10 Inn stays for free. You can get healing cheaper (in bulk or one ata time - 20 to 150 points), you can buy 1 forest fight a day for 10 days for 100 points, and you can colorize your name for 300 points the first time, 25 every time after. To completely customize your name, you need 5000 points (used or unsused) Later (when it's been coded) you can name your mount, buy fairy dust, and anything else the
Slum, Fight, or Thrillseek?
Slumming (fighting forest creatures weaker than you) is the way to go if you want GOLD. You don't have to heal as often, so you save on healing, but you don't get many experience points. Fighting (fighting forest creatures the same level as you) is more expensive to heal because these creatures take more out of you. But you get more gold. Thrillseeking (fighting creatures at a higher level than you) will get you lots of experience points, but you'll spend a lot on healing. Thrillseeking is probably dumb unless you have a lot of hit points and or a wyvern, which adds massively to your attack. If you fight or thrillseek and take no damage, you've had a perfect fight and will win a free forest fight. You can't win forest fights if you slum.
Riddles
-You probably know already, but look for the answers to riddles on line. Google is best. I found this site to have almost 100% of the answers to the riddles I encounter in the forest - Thieves Guild
Bribing
Cedric in the Inn can be bribbed. He's greedy, though, so don't offer the minimum amount of gold or gems. Try going the middle ground. I've always successfully bribed when taking this route. Also, if you go to Cedric with a lot of gems or gold on you, he somehow knows. He will be less likely to accept a cheaper bribe.
Specialties and Race
(I need help here.. I don't know all of these, and my memory is a bit rough on the edges)

Backstab - Major attack/defense buff (more than 200%?)
DARK ARTS -
Skeletal Crew - Between 1 and 6 minions (depending on your level) help you attack for 5 rounds

Fairies and FoilWench
Fairies and FoilWench ask you for gems. Fairies can give you observation so you find 2 gems near by, a forest fight, or increase your hit points permanently by 1. FoilWench increases your "Specialties" level by 1 (fairies can do this also, by the way.)
The Curious Rock
You have to DK at least once to get in here. It's just another place to chat.
