Darin Naatjes (7/27/80) was the Phillies' 14th round draft pick in the 2002 amateur draft. A late signing, he did not play in 2002 and started 2003 in Extended Spring Training. His few number is Batavia were fair, but he'll be 24 in 2004, and will need to move quickly to live up to his reputation. (updated 4/7/04) (Back to the Phillies' Depth Chart)

Doug Nickle (10/2/74) was originally drafted in the 13th round by the Angels in 1987, but quickly left that orginization as a player to be named later for future Phillie Gregg Jeffries. He promoted to the majors in June 23, 2002 when Ricky Bottalico was placed on the DL, but after only a few appearance was sent back to Scranton to give Hector Mercado a second shot. Since he was traded with Scott Rolen to the Cardinals, he was waived and picked up by the Padres, and later by the Mets. (updated 2/4/03) (Back to the Phillies' Depth Chart)

Karl Nonemaker (1/7/80)was the Phillies' 20th pick in the 2002 amateur draft out of Vanderbilt University. Very old for a rookie league player at 22, Nonemaker led the GCL Phillies regulars with a .308 batting average, and was second on the team with 13 stolen bases. Despite quick promotions, he failed to impress in 2003.(updated 8/28/02) (Back to the Phillies' Depth Chart)

Kevin Nulton (8/16/82) was originally drated by the Padres in the 10th round of the 2000 amateur draft. A failure with the Padres, he was picked up to replace a struggling Omar Bramasco in Lakewood for his first taste of full-season ball, but failed to succeed here either, and was promptly released in July. Alexis Nunez was signed as a free agent for 2002 after spending the previous two seasons in the Minnesota Twins' organization. He spent most of 2001 in the Appalachian League, where he hit .298. Like most low-minor free agents, he was placed wherever the roster needed buffering at second base in a given week, which sometimes included "rehab" assignments to rookie ball. He was released soon after the 2002 season. (updated 3/27/03) (Back to the Phillies' Depth Chart)

Franklin Nunez (1/1/77) was originally signed as a free agent out of the Dominican Republic by the Dodgers in 1994. He was then drafted as a free agent by the Phillies in 1998. He was a top Phillies prospect in 2001, regularly hitting 98 MPH on the radar gun in Reading. In 2002, however, his velocity was down, and he underwent season ending shoulder surgery. At 24, he can still be a prospect if he comes through the surgery with his velocity intact, but not with the Phillies. We was claimed off of waivers by the Mets before the 2003 season.
