The Uzbekistan Government is much like the government of the United States of America. The Legislature consists of the unicameral Oliy Majlis.  There are 250 seats in this body, and its members are elected by popular vote. And there are five pro-government parties split the vote for representatives in the Oliy Majlis. The judicial system in Uzbekistan does not operate independently from the Executive Branch. Supreme Court judges are nominated by the President and confirmed by the Oliy Majlis.The Executive The head of state is the president, Islo Karimov. President Karimov was elected president by the Supreme Soviet.
