Okami Ryu Kenpo is a style of Kung Fu that I am in the process of creating. The name is in Japanese instead of Chinese because I do not speak enough Chinese to know the name. In Japanese the name means "wolf style kung fu" this is not a direct, perfect translation but most people can catch the meaning.
As the name implies Okami Ryu Kenpo is a style based on the movements of the wolf. There are three types of this; normal wolf, dire wolf, and werewolf. Yes I know that werewolves are not real. However one can still learn much from the way that they fight in movies and stories. The aforementioned movements are the ones that wolves do during the hunt, fights for supremacy, and other well known movements such as howling. All movements have a name as well as a description, and hopefully I will be able to have a picture for each one as well.
Before I go any further in the telling of this style, I must warn everyone of its weakness. All martial arts have one though most will never admit it. They all see themselves as near perfect and do not improve upon anything. The weakness of Okami Ryu is this, YOU MUST DEFEAT YOUR OPPONENT QUICKLY!!! Okami Ryu has cut down on ataacking areas and hand/feet forms for attack. This makes the style easier to learn, but it also makes it easier to second guess. While most Kung Fu forms have around 108 attack zones, Okami Ryu has 14. There are three hand forms and 2 foot forms. This is the weakness of my martial art, and it will be until I can figure out a way to bypass this and still keep the wolf spirit in the style.
No I am not talking about any mysticism or anything. When you practice a martial art based on the movements of something be it 5 animals kung fu or drunken boxing or okami ryu you must not only duplicate the movements of the creature but must act, think, and believe that you are that creature. An example would be thus, just as a wolf would never bite the shin, you as an okami ryu practitioner will not attack it and still be following okami ryu.
