G3

On October 24th, 2003, I had the ultimate privilege to see G3!! For those of you who don't know what G3 is, it is a very special tour where 3 guitar instrumental bands tour together to bring you the best and more! Seeing G3 live was a dream come true. This year's lineup included Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen! It was helluva show. Here are the pics of that unforgettable night in Chicago, Riviera Theater.

First up was Yngwie Malmsteen. He's Swedish and is into neo-classical shred guitar. This guy is fast! He's also very cocky and arrogant! Haha. His superior confidence is funny to watch as he swings his guitar, plays it behind his head, kick out picks, spin his guitar and throws it high up in the air, and more kicking. Oh, if you look carefully at the pic, you'll notice a wall of amps behind him. I counted 14 Marshall amps just for Yngwie! Wack! Yep, it was loud. But this is nothing compared to what he tours with in the 80's- 30 amps!!!

Next up we have Steve Vai. One of my favourite guitarists of all time. He started the show with an improvisation on his amazing 3 neck guitar. Steve is just amazing. His melody and tone and composition is magnificent.

Steve was later joined by his band. Yep, that's Billy Sheehan on bass! This is an amazing band. Very talented.
