TLSAMP

The Tennessee Louis Stoke Alliance for Minority Participation is a program designed to improve the quantity and quality of underrepresented scientists and engineers graduating each year with a bachelor’s degree.

The objectives of the program are: to recruit underrepresented students to pursue science or engineering as a career, to improve the quality of the learning environment for underrepresented science and engineering students at all schools, and to ensure that a larger number of undergraduate students are prepared to enter graduate programs. Through the use of collaborative learning approaches, mentoring activities involving faculty, staff, and upper-level students, and hands-on research and internship experiences, the project is able to nurture the development of underrepresented students.

The director for the University of Memphis TLSAMP grant is Dr. John Haddock. The program coordinator is Regina J. Hairston.
