CASTELS
The later eighteenth century and the whole of the nineteenth saw the rejuvenation of castle building, but this time for wealthy families and no longer for defense.
STONE WALLS
Stone walls are a charcteristic feature of many Irish landscapes, particularly in the limestone and granite areas. In addition to the thick walls, there are also small, thinner walls which were a cheap and effective way of creating new field boundaries when land was being divided up among members of family.
