Non-Technical Solutions
While we have come up with quite a few technical solutions to ODU’s email
problem, we wanted to offer some possible non-technical solutions as well.
It may be somewhat difficult to imagine making an email service better
without being technical, but there are come things that can be done.
- First and foremost, appreciate the positive aspects of the email system.
While it can be frustrating to use, focusing on the negative aspects will
only make the experience that much worse.
- Secondly, be patient. As technology grows and changes we all begin to
change our opinions about it. Faster connections and updated technology
are good, but we have to learn to be more patient. Years ago we did not
have any of these technologies. We know that we can survive without them,
so it cannot be that difficult to have a little patience when things do
not work as quickly or smoothly as we would like them to.
- There are a few semi-technical solutions to this problem as well. If you
do not like the ODU email system that is in place, simply use another system.
Many people use alternative accounts for their emailing needs. You can find

- Also, ODU offers a different email system called iNotes. It is still run
by Lotus Notes, but is a more updated version of the default email system.
